This 5 days trip offers a deep dive into Morocco’s most authentic landscapes, beginning in the energetic heart of Marrakech and winding through the iconic towns and villages of the south and interior, before arriving at the spiritual, labyrinthine city of Fès.
On the first day, leaving Marrakech behind, you’ll climb the winding roads of the Tizi n’Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains. This route is truly breathtaking, with alternating valleys, rugged peaks, and traditional mud-brick Berber villages. The first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most striking fortified kasbahs. Wandering its dusty streets feels like stepping onto an ancient film set, where time seems suspended. From here, the journey continues to Ouarzazate, a tranquil city with a wide-open landscape, surrounded by desert and palm groves, and renowned as the backdrop for countless films.
The second day leads deeper into the Saharan landscapes. Traveling through arid expanses, you’ll reach Rissani, a market town rich in local atmosphere, where everyday life of the southern Berbers unfolds before you. The market is colorful and energetic, a place where time flows at its own rhythm.
The following day begins with the magic of sunrise across the dunes before heading north. You’ll pass through the long, fertile Ziz Valley, dotted with endless palm groves nestled among rocky hills. The landscape gradually changes: the air becomes cooler, mountains greener, as you enter the Middle Atlas, home to cedar forests, curious monkeys, and a very different natural environment than the previous days.
